My artwork is personal, absorbing the influences around me. The most important being the people that have been at these places throughout history to the present day. That is why every painting must be started on site with a knowledge of its history and meeting the people that visit today. There is soul and emotion in these places, whispering of times past present and hopefully future. I love the vibrancy and detail of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, spontaneity of Impressionist and romance of Jack Vettriano.

Influenced from a previous portrait from an unknown artist this image was reconstructed from information gained from the remains of King Richard III. This is the first known portrait painted for King Richard III using the DNA information about his hair and eye colour. The original was bought by The Richard III Society and was on the BBC the morning he was collected from Leicester University,also on ITV, Canadian and French newspapers. hree Sun’s were seen at Mortimer`s cross on the morning of 2nd of Feb 1461- the morning of an important battle which would help Edward IV become King. The appearance of the Three Sun’s frightened Edward’s troops, although he convinced them that God was on their side as this was a sign of the Holy Trinity. Later Edward used the Three Sun’s as his symbol “The Sun in Splendour”. It was thought that the Sun’s represented himself and his two brothers George and Richard III, the three Son’s of York!
The entrance to the church in Fotheringhay - the local church where King Richard III was born and the nearest church to Fotheringhay Castle in which Mary Queen of Scot’s was beheaded. The branches of the trees represent life’s choices, the junctions that follow and the results of those decisions. Built by Lord William Hastings. Building of the castle was only partly completed due to the death of Lord Hastings in1483. Hastings was beheaded on King Richard III`s orders. It is thought that King Richard III travelled on this road that would have led to Market Bosworth and Kirby Muxloe Castle. The farm was there during King Richard`s time and houses the original drawbridge to Kirby Muxloe Castle. On October the 2nd 2013 I felt compelled to go to this church kneel where I imagined Richard III may have knelt at the foot of the altar and paint. Eerie to begin with, then peaceful as the sunlight streamed through the stain glass window.
